Toys-R-Us Video-Game Sale!
This week is a good week for gamers, because Toys-R-Us has a fantastic “buy 2, get 1 free” deal (no coupon required) on all of their video-games. Because common sense isn’t always common, they specify that the free game will be the one whose price is the lowest. Even better, this sale is available in-stores and online, and runs from today till next Saturday, October 20. Quantities are limited, so it’s probably better to buy sooner than later!

Ancient Gamecube outsold Sony’s PS3
Check out this graph of Nintendo Gamecube sales versus Sony PS3 sales from the NPD, a firm that tracks North American console sales:

In the first 10 months, the PS3 sold 1,742,000 units compared with the Gamecub, which sold 2,120,000 in the same period. This means that the more expensive and less profitable PS3 might signal Sony’s final attempt at making console video games…. or so we hope!

Bioshock Reviewed the Right Way
There is a hilarious zero-punctuation review of Bioshock floating around which actually hits hard and true:

Splicer: Go ahead and hack, I’ll politely wait until you are done to attack you voraciously
The review touches on the drastic dumbing down of the game for those consolers (hacking anyone?), the actually limited use of weapons / splicing / other skills, the unlimited regeneration points EVERYWHERE that make dying fun, and the storyline mirrors the original system shock to a T. But still, it’s a gorgeous game with a terrible ending, so enjoy the experience of it all.

Xbox 360 Parental Timer
The folks over at Kotaku recently caught a whiff of the latest Xbox 360 rumor, and it’s all about concerned parents. The rumor apparently is that “the bi-annual Xbox 360 firmware update set to hit this fall will bring with it a number of interesting updates, chief among them a new Parental Timer.” This timer will allow users to set a password-protected timer on the use of their Xbox 360.

This is clearly a move on Microsoft’s part to please parents who feel like they’ve lost control of their child(ren) to the seemingly addictive Xbox. I think this is a great idea, and one of the most responsible things Microsoft has done with their Xbox consoles; not only does it give parents the freedom to set limits on their child’s gaming habits, but it also allows them to allocate that time with ease.
