Clock Tower Game-To-Film Adaptation

Posted in Adaptations, Movies, Previews by ubersoldat on November 4th, 2005.

Todd Farrmer, writer of Jason X, is to adapt Capcom videogame “Clock Tower 3″ to movie. This adaptation is one of the first that Mayhem Project, a production company launched in June, will undertake. The film’s budget is estimated to be between $10 million and $30 million, and will initiate production in 2006. The plot of Clock Tower 3 centers around a girl named Alyssa who returns home on her 15th birthday to discover herself in an awful predicament. Although the game recieved mixed reviews, almost all the critics recognized that the game had a superb story.

This movie is going to be such ****. The movie Jason X was under par, and the game Clock Tower 3 was a terrible game and a disgrace to the Clock Tower series. I know this movie will flop and have a horrible demise, but I’ll watch it anyway just because I must see and own everything that is Clock Tower.

  3. Lovell says:

I agree, Clock Tower 3 wasn’t that great compared to its predecessors. I’m psyched about the movie, though; with that kind of budget, it can’t really be that bad, can it? I just wish it was based on an earlier game rather than. Silent Hill and Stay Alive look promising as well.

  4. Sarah says:

Jason X sucked, but (unlike the rest of the world) I loved clock tower 3 and have been hoping for a movie..And BTW stay alive was terrible, silent hill should be good though (you cant really mess a game like that up)

  5. michelle says:

i liked this game,it was overall an ok game, I loved the story. It was cool.
Thank god the graphics werent **** like the rest of the clocktower games, I dont think this movie will be that scary, but oh,well..ill watch it anyway. I cant wait, same with the silent hill movie!!!i love silent hill, the story is so cool!

  6. MICHELLE says:

JASON X IS CRAPPY. LIKE NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET, ITS JUST ABOUT SOME GUY RIPPING OTHER PEOPLE’S GUTS OUT..AND NAKED CHICKS EVERY 10 MINUTES. i DONT CARE IF MOVIES HAVE THAT IN THERE, AS LONG AS THEY HAVE A GOOD STORY AND TWIST.BUT, i THINK THE CLOCKTOWER MOVIE WILL EITHER BE CRAPPY OR AWSOME…NOT IN BETWEEN. ITS JUST THAT KIND OF MOVIE I GUESS.

that budget is very low, 10 million is depressing, i guess 30 million is ok. though, most good movies start at 60 million…so Im guessing it will be ok.the budget is dissapointing, although its the writer fom jason x, which is very depressing.

*Sigh* is all i have to say about this decision to create one of the worst games that brought the clock tower name to shame along with “clock tower the struggle within” listen up MR.Bigtime i created jason x director MAKE CLOCK TOWER 1 THAT CAME OUT FOR SNES.Meet up with the original writers make some plot changes nothing to big fill in some holes the game left out and then guess what after that movie comes out YOU CAN MAKE THE SEQUEL.The sequel is the game that we all knew and loved and guess what else when you create the sequel publicity will create a demand for the remake of the game and then it will come out in the next generation consoles and you make about 3 times the money you wouldve made on one crappy film that probably would been worse than the first “final fantasy” film to hit the silver screen. please think with your heads for once in your lives.

  10. elle says:

silent hill 2 would make the best game-to-film adaptation ever!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
i cant wait until it becomes a movie!!! silent hill 2 is the best game of all, time, no matter what any of you people say

  11. Mix says:

Yeah , Im exited for the show Silent hill 2 , but Im also looking
forward to Silent hill 3 or 4 …. probably in a couple of years =(

  12. Alex .M. says:

What about the game Clock tower 4 ? Doesnt anyone care ’bout
that game’s due date or movie !? I mean , the third one was
sweet ! The fourth ones gonna rock …

  13. Gina says:

I think that the story line for clock tower 3 was great, the actual gameplay could have been better though.

the idea of making it into a movie is pretty exciting but im dissapointed with the idea of letting someone from the writer of Jason X be involved in the making. I dont want this just to be another average slasher movie, it needs character and a great story line to become a true success.

  14. ryan says:

I think they need to make the Clock Tower movie based on the original Clock Tower VG (the scissorman storyline). That would be awesome in every aspect. I say nay to CT3 and yay to CT1.

  15. Coco says:

I’m so excited. YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I adored the game. I hope they don’t ruin it by making a horrible movie.

  16. Jessie says:

Clock Tower 3 was a great game, in my opinion. I was introduced to it by my cousin Jackie who is a real nut about survival horror games, but won’t play them unless I’m there in her presence. In this game, we got to Corroder and she had to give up the controller to me because she was so scared to death about him. I got over him, no problem. The game is really easy once you get the hang of it and the story line was really awesome. Another thing I thought was funny was that after we were done playing our video games at about 4 in the morning, we went to bed and she was still up while my other friend and I fell asleep. She couldn’t get the game out of her head and proceeded to buy the OST within the next week. I thought it was hilarious.

But seriously, I can’t wait until they make this into the movie. I totally want to see it and the Prince of Persia one they come out with as well.

  17. Rich says:

Clock Tower 1 owns 3 clock tower 3 was good until you got a random bow it just made it way to fake feeling I would of rather used a pipe or something to fight like in silent hill

  18. luke says:

i rekon clock tower 3 is awesome…. although i still havent finished it…. i havent played the CT1 OR 2 jus for the fact tht the graphics are ****.
but CT3 is awesome i mean what a great storyline… the movie should also be good… i jus hope the director doesnt turn it into a predictable slasher film.
Stay Alive was very disapointing….. even though i brought it, it was jus to cheesy and the actors just couldnt act! i mean come out i cud of dun a betta job of tht!
o well P.S. FINAL FANTASY X rulz and is the best game eva!

  19. zach9044 says:

no no no no no way why can’t they base it on the old SNES clock tower or even the first one on ps1 AKA clock tower 2 on japanese version
sorry hated clock tower 3 one thing that pissed me off was the whole scissorman and woman thing but overall I will see this movie becuase of my love for clock tower even though I didn’t like 3 so hope it’s good though if only the actual creators of the game made the movie wouldn’t have anything to worry about but I wonder if they are going to use scissorman and woman or are they going to mix it with the classic one and use original scissorman never know they might mix it up like they did with silent hill movie

  20. courtney says:

i cant wait for the movie clock tower, i loved the game , god i hope they make it good, alot of the movies based on video games suck, well except silent hill i liked that and resident evil apocalypse was alright. i wish CAPCOM would make clock tower 4 game. i wonder who there going to get to play alyssa hamilton? i hope a new actress no one saw before.well anyway clock tower 3 rocks . P.S i wonder if there going to make a haunting ground movie that ‘d be cool.

  21. Alyssa says:

Love that game!I wanna play Alyssa Hamilton, all my friends say i look like her!

  22. Zach says:

CT3 sucks CT SNES is waaaaaaay better that should me a movie

  23. Charlotte says:

Me and my friend played this game one summer and loved it. I never played the earlier versions of Clock Tower, but after playing CT3, I would’nt mind playing the earlier versions (Even though I’m a huge critic of graphics and I’ve heard ther earlier CT weren’t so great) I nearly fell out of my chair when I heard about the making of a CT movie. Now, I said I never played the earlier CT1 or 2, but I’ve heard of the storyline. I would love to see a movie on CT1 than 3 in some ways. I seriously look forward to see who will play who in this movie. I can’t really imagine who would play Alyssa…

  24. Clocktower fan says:

I agree in that this movie is going to flop horribly with the exception of persons who enjoyed the third game. The very first clocktower for the SNES, and the Clocktower for the PS have all the elements for a perfect horror story. Clocktower 3 brings in weird, mystical, Sailor Moon-type elements, that just completely destroys the realistic feel of a horror/survival game.

Seriously, Jennifer and Helen didn’t have a magical bow to kill Scissorman in the first games. They dealt with realistic environments, using whatever she could find whether it be a fire extinguisher…a ladder. I mean, sure, there were ghost children and towards the end you have to banish Scissorman into some weird portal because he was a demon child, it was these common day objects that made the player really feel like you were fighting for the character’s life.

But to go into the weird story line of Clocktower 3. I mean come on…the whole game was just an onslaught of weird bosses, leading to some power hungry big guy at the end. How overdone is that? Clocktower I and II had a great background story!

To introduce the gaming series like that with the third title is a big mistake. It’s also going to make it nearly impossible for movies to be made for the I and II clocktower once the third game is introduced to the public. Seriously, how are you going to go from some weird sailor moon, mystical, rip off to a more realistic experience for the audience. The connection to the audience isn’t going to be established as well with the Clocktower 3 plot. How many of us have magical powers to banish evil? Not many. But how many of us are capable of taking a fire extinguisher and bashing the bad guy over the head with it? — just about everyone.

The decision to make the clocktower movie based off of the third game’s plot is indicative that any movie sequels, if made, will not return to the first or second game’s plot, as the third game had absolutely no relation to the first and second. It was just a creative exploration with the series title slapped on it. Unless they name this movie Clocktower, and make ones for the I and II titles called “Scissorman,” then the movie audience is going to be just about as confused as the gaming audience was when they picked up the third title, expecting a great continuation of horror/survival with lots of blood and gore.

va haber clock tower 4 ?

  26. GideonsFrost says:

they so should have based the movie off of clock tower 1. clock tower 3 would have been awesome if it hadnt been for the corny subordianates

  27. Scissorman says:

Clock tower 3 was an AMAZING game, and recently I was thinking they should make a movie out of it…and then I found this :O

I just can’t wait…Really.Production started 2 years ago so hopefully it will be out not too far in the future. I’d love to see who played corroder…They’d need to hire a lunatic to copy that psycho >_> Same with Sledge…

Anyone have ANY hints at all when this will be out?I would seriously go outside of a movie theater NOW and wait however long it takes to see this.I’m sure it will be BEYOND epic.

  28. Nolan says:

    Nooo!

First of all why would they get the creator of Jason X to do the project? That is the worst idea ever. Although I liked the 3rd game I dont think it deserves a movie. I would LOVE to see the the first clocktower game turned into a movie with young jennifer and her orphanage friends trapped in the castle
