PS3 Bounty: $1200 per Playstation Three
Sony’s Jack Tretton famously said in an interview with EGM:
If you can find a PS3 anywhere in North America that’s been on shelves for more than five minutes, I’ll give you 1,200 bucks for it. I can get any retail buyer on the phone with you and get them to verify that there’s not a single retail location in America where there’s a PlayStation 3 on the shelf for sale. They’ve all been sold in a matter of minutes.
Now our friends at Penny Arcade want their $13,200–to go buy Nintendo Wii Consoles!

$100 Off PS3 with PS2 Trade-In!

While it’s impossible to get the PS3 for free, at least EBGamestop is trying to make us feel better about shelling out the big bucks by offering $100 off the price of either model of the PS3 if you trade in all of the following:
1. A working PS2 with power cord, AV cable, & Sony controller
2. A 2nd Sony brand PS2 controller
3. Any brand 8MB PS2 memory card
The offer expires 2/18/2007.
Half Life 2: Orange?
That’s right. Electronic Gaming Monthly has confirmed that Valve’s upcoming PS3 and Xbox 360 versions of the Half Life 2 bundle have been renamed Half Life 2: Orange! Joystiq quips: “Valve has come up with an entire world of alien life forms, postmodern physics and government conspiracies and the best title they could come up with is a color? We guess it’s better than Half-Life 2: Head Crab-tacular Edition.” HL2:O will include the original Half Life 2 game, along with Episodes One and Two, Portal, and Team Fortress.
New Final Fantasy XIII Screenshots!

Worth Playing brings tears to my eyes with these beautiful screens from FF:XIII for the PS3. “FF XIII provides tangible, intuitive controls while delivering seamless transitions between real-time gameplay and stunning in-game cinematics. The latest in cutting-edge technology has been utilized in development of Final Fantasy XIII, thus making this newest addition to the Final Fantasy series worthy of the title next generation.”

Also, “one hour prior to store opening on Sunday, December 31,” Best Buy employees will be handing out ticket vouchers for the coveted PS3’s, just to keep things moving smoothly. According to their Holiday hours, Best Buy will open at 10 AM, and the tickets thus distributed at 9 AM, so a word of advice: arrive there early if you really want one, and plan on spending a couple of hours waiting in line for the vouchers. Here’s the internal memo from Best Buy about the PS3’s:
