Xbox 360: A Complete Guide

Posted in Christmas, Gift Guide, Holidays, Reviews, Shopping, Xbox 360 by ubersoldat on December 16th, 2005.

Xbox 360 Fanboy reviews Xbox 360: A Complete Guide and reports: “Sporting a no nonsense utilitarian title, Xbox 360: A Complete Guide is the first aftermarket manual out the door. It features a comprehensive focus covering setting up video, audio, networking, Xbox Live, peripheral attachments, and XP Media Center integration. The book is available through Lulu.com, an internet retailer for self-published books, so there is no giant publisher behind it verifying its accuracy or quality. Then again if there were, it wouldn’t be out already!

For $14.95 this might be the perfect present for that technologically illiterate gamer who’s lucky enough to be getting a 360 this holiday. Sure, it might not be the largest demographic, but Douglas A. Thompson has it cornered!”

A few people have been able to find Xbox 360s after launch date, either on eBay or in less searched stores, but now there is news of the second official shipment of 360s. The date to watch and wait for is December 18, 2005. I would suggest checking with your local BestBuy immediately as to whether or not they will recieve a shipment, and if they will, you should even perhaps camp out just to be ensured an Xbox 360 for the Christmas holidays!

Solid gold Xbox 360 faceplate up on eBay

Posted in Accessory, Art, Christmas, Shopping, Xbox 360 by ubersoldat on December 9th, 2005.

Nothing can describe my ambivalent feelings for the solid-gold Xbox 360 Faceplate on eBay: it’s got the looks, but the starting bid is $36,000 and it weighs nearly two pounds! Two pounds of gold costs roughly $15,000, so this guy will make quite a bundle if he manages to sell it (over 100% profit). Nonetheless, this would definately make a Christmas gift no kid would reject!

Why do you hate the 360?

Posted in Christmas, Hardware, Holidays, Microsoft, Shopping, Xbox 360 by Elliott Back on December 7th, 2005.

CNET hates the 360 because of supply problems:

The fact is that the Xbox 360 should have had more of a staggered launch schedule with only the United States on tap for 2005. Heck, Sony is likely to launch the PS3 in Japan well in advance of the rest of the world; why didn’t Microsoft just do North America if it knew it might have trouble putting out enough units?
