Game of the Week: Defend Your Castle
So I got bored recently, and decided to take a stroll down memory lane, aka Flash Games Avenue. I rediscovered a classic: Defend Your Castle. The goal here is to defend your castle from barbarians, who are actually just stick figures. I find the first few stages the hardest because you have to do everything by hand. You have to click on each stick figure and fling him into the air, letting gravity chalk up another kill. As you accumulate points, you can upgrade your castle such that you can “convert” the barbarians and train them to man your castle as archers, wizards, kamikazees, or craftsmen.
Repair Damage: Fix damage incurred to your castle
Upgrade Walls: Increase your castle’s ability to withstand the onslaught
Temple: With this upgrade, you can drop enemy units (gently) into your castle to convert them to your side. These converts can be trained or deployed as kamikazee units.
Archery Range: Train archers to defend your castle automatically
Workshop: Train craftsmen to repair your castle automatically
Mana Pool: Train wizards to use powerful spells
Demolition Lab: Allows you to deploy kamikazee units by clicking the convert icons below your castle hitpoints. Click the unit to detonate.
My strategy is to buy a Temple, and then an Archery Range as soon as possible after that, training my converts into archers. Then I skip the Workshop and the Demolition Lab, and save up for the Mana Poll. It is crucial to get the Mana Pool because wizards have powerful spells such as instant kill, massive explosion, and instant conversion. Thus you can eventually begin to compound the number of converts you get, and the rate at which you get them, by investing in wizards. It gets extremely simple when you have a sufficient amount of converts there is literally nothing left to do!
Even though the stick figures have buffed-up, do more damage, and run extremely fast, they are of little challenge to take out because I have 1630 archers, 728 craftsmen, and 215 wizards. You should get over 200 wizards so that mana-regeneration doesn’t become a problem.
That’s right. I didn’t get bored until I got to the 59th stage of Defend Your Castle and had acquired over 13 million points. That’s how addicting it is. Two thumbs up for this flash game! You can play it here.

About defending your castle… how do you keep your numbers up? Everytime I get something going where I have 100 wizards and 50 archers, I beat the stage and below it says I have casualties… this normally wouldn’t be a problem in most video games, except that it wipes out my WHOLE army! I have zero wizards and zero archers starting the next level and need to start from scratch… what’s up with that?

If you don’t get enough kills and you buy to many units it will clear your men untill you have the gold to pay for which if you using your gold to buy archers you will not be able to pay for the units between levels which you have to pay 200 a wizard 50 archer… between every level and not just once

ok yea so currently im at stage 101 with 1717 archers 170 wizardsand 170 repair dudes and i dunno if there is an end

Wow! You guys are insane! I’m only on level 16, and at the moment, I’ve lost all of my archers, widards and craftsmen. It’s all going downhill, but this game is so addicting once you get into it.

well shit, this games is set around stage 15 or so, meaning you won’t have to do shit after that, except recruit more troops, just let your troops do all the work. and to not lose your troops is simple, don’t fucking spend more than you have in hand. meaning, don’t make more troops than the money you already have in hand. don’t count the money you’re gonna make. simple as that.

My game is at like level 45 and i havent had to do anything for a while. i just want to know, are there any other bad guys other than the regular guys, the battering ram guys, the big guys, and the exploding guys?

first off, yes, the game has infinite levels. this is the faq page from the game designers website:

second, it’s very simple to keep your guys from dying. you need to have enough money at the START of your turn to pay for the upkeep of the units you have at the END of your turn. that means you can’t spend all of your money every turn or else all of your units will disband at the end of it. each wizard costs 200, each archer costs 100 and each builder costs 50. at the end of your turn it displays how much you spent on unit upkeep. remember that number, add however much you think you are going to add to it next turn, and make sure you save that much money.

when the level number comes up right click and press back b4 it starts the game it will take you to main page. press load game you will be on a higher level. i dont know what lvl it takes you to but i got to level 960 with this. those peeps are like flashes goin to your castle!!! also durin the game right click press forward and then pick everyone up. press right click again then press back and they go flying! its a easy way to kill reg sized people.
