BioWare Corp. has just been recognized as one of the Top 100 Employers of Canada. BioWare Corp. is the developer of popular titles such as the critically-acclaimed RPGs Baldur’s Gate, Neverwinter Nights, Star Wars: KOTOR, and Jade Empire. The criterion for this recognition are Human Resource practices, exceptional growing success and community service. They are currently in development of the action-RPG Mass Effect.

Bone Soundtrack Released

Posted in Free Downloads, Soundtracks by admin on October 30th, 2005.

Telltale Games has just released the soundtrack of Bone for free on their official website under the “Extras” tab. All songs are in MP3 format. Composed by Jared Emerson-Johnson, the release also features an online booklet describing history of the tracks. Bone is one of the first point-and-click adventure games to be marketed by the episode, four in-all. “For most people words about music are much less interesting than the music itself, so I encourage you to download some or all of the tracks and let them speak for themselves,” says Emerson-Johnson. “Hopefully they will bring you some of the same joys I had in writing them.” The best things in life are free, and this is clearly an example.

Nintendo Revolution: The Facts

Joystiq reports what they know about the Nintendo Revolution. If what they say is credible, which I believe it is, then the Revolution might be the best new console. Here are the details:

Release is sometime in 2006.
Prototype shown is larger than final unit.
Nintendo is still determining final colors for the console.
All-Access Gaming, which refers to backwards compatibility to 20 years of Nintendo games, NES, SNES, N64. We don’t know particulars of how it’ll be accessed or what, if any, the cost structure might be.
Downloadable to 512MB of flash memory.
SD memory card slot.
Wireless controllers.
Two USB 2.0 ports.
Built-in WiFi.
WiFi used to interface with the DS.
DS likely to enhance future games.
Self-loading optical drive that will play 12cm Revolution discs and smaller GameCube discs
Self-contained attachment for playing media content, including DVDs.
No controller was shown. So even though the box looks a lot like the one leaked over the weekend, the accompanying controllers were not presented. So was it a leak, or a really good guess?

Gamers Reports got their hands on an official list of release dates for Xbox 360 games. They were told that the dates are final, and with only 3 weeks until the release of the Xbox 360, it seems very likely that they are.

EXCLUSIVE: Quake 4 Screenshots

Posted in First Person Shooter, PC Games, Previews, Reviews by Elliott Back on October 29th, 2005.

Here at VGN, we give you exclusive first-hand reports from the latest in gaming. Today, we bring you 74 original Quake 4 screenshots, hot off the press. Playing through the game, the first thing I notice is how reponsive the menus and cut scenes are. Both run at full frames per second, and feel fluid and lifelike:

Quake4 2005-10-28 19-56-45-25

Quake4 2005-10-28 19-53-00-42

The characters themselves seem to lack something realistic: they seem slightly plastic:

Quake4 2005-10-28 19-57-24-12

Quake4 2005-10-29 00-13-25-01

Still, Quake 4 is a first-class first person shooter (FPS) with plenty of bang, explosions, violence, and death for its buck:

Quake4 2005-10-28 23-52-39-53

Quake4 2005-10-28 23-53-24-23

Quake4 2005-10-29 00-07-10-35

The HUD is very well done, in my opinion:
